Thembinkosi Gcoyi is a former South African diplomat who served as Economic Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa to the People’s Republic of China from 2010-2014. He took up the role after spending four years in various roles in the Department of International Relations and Cooperation from 2006-2010. His work focused on South Africa’s Africa policy. In this role, he was involved in drafting policy documents, participating in policy discussions and managing day to day relationships with key countries in West Africa.
Thembinkosi is a seasoned writer. He has contributed op-eds to the Daily Maverick. He also participated in television and radio shows focusing on South Africa’s relationship with China.
Calvin Matlou holds a Bachelor of Arts qualification from Wits University, as well as an Honours qualification in International Politics from the University of Johannesburg.
He previously served in the government of South Africa in the International Trade and Economic Development space for close to 8 years. His focus was on maintaining bilateral economic relations between South Africa and SADC countries.
Over the years, he has amassed experience in the understanding of different economic models and how they impact economic development, policy making processes, and public-private partnerships to achieve developmental goals
Lehlohonolo holds a Master of Management Degree specialising in public policy from the Wits School of Governance. He obtained his Honours in Political and International Studies from Rhodes University. His research interests include politics, law, and economic policy making.
Lehlohonolo previously worked as a Research Analyst at Control Risks where he focused on doing due diligence and political risk. He is motivated by bridging the gap between government, business and the community.
Mokgano Leshalabe is currently reading towards a Masters Degree in Political Studies at the University of South Africa (UNISA). He holds an Honours degree in Politics and a Certificate in Risk Management from UNISA.
Mokgano has worked as a Governance Officer in the Public Sector. He also worked as a Political Analyst , were he focused on Public and Regulatory Affairs, Policy Analysis, Political Risk and Labour Market Analysis. Mokgano has previously worked as a Freelance Analyst focusing mainly on Due Diligence and Political Risk.
